How we share your data
We only share your personal data when necessary for our services or to comply with legal obligations, for example to:
- Offer or deliver our AskTippi service;
- Enforce our Terms of Use, monitor compliance, and detect violations;
- Carry out our marketing or advertising activities;
- Detect and combat fraudulent or illegal activities;
- Comply with legal obligations.
This may be with:
- Payment providers: For processing payments and payouts.
- Charities: If you choose to donate part of your reward.
- Government authorities: If we are legally required to do so.
- AI service providers: Such as Anthropic and OpenAI, who as processors handle the text or speech you provide to enable AI functionalities (such as generating or transcribing a question description). See “Use of AI functionalities”.
- External service providers: Such as hosting companies, security partners, and fraud-prevention companies. AskTippi may use user data within the platform for legitimate commercial purposes. However, this data will not be sold to third parties outside the AskTippi platform.
Use of content in public communications:
When you create a question on AskTippi, this question, including the content and your name, may be shared by AskTippi on public channels such as social media, newsletters, or promotional materials.
The purpose of this is to inspire our community and encourage knowledge sharing. You can object to the use of your content at any time via privacy@asktippi.com.
If you don't want your question to be shared, you can contact us via privacy@asktippi.com.
The (categories of) recipients may include:
- Our partners involved in offering our AskTippi service, such as OPP.
- External service providers who support us in delivering the AskTippi service and payment-processing services, help us show personalised advertisements, and assist us in preventing, detecting, limiting, and investigating possible illegal activities, violations of our Terms of Use, fraud, and/or security breaches. This also includes collecting invoices, offering partner and reward programmes, and other business activities.
- Government and investigative authorities, or other competent third parties (such as the NVWA and the IGJ) to whom we are required to comply with legal obligations, enforce our Terms of Use, or protect the rights, property, or safety of individuals, especially when there is a verified request or legal proceeding.
- The Dutch Tax Authority (Belastingdienst), when the thresholds described in the Dutch law implementing the EU directive on data exchange for the digital platform economy (known as ‘DAC7’) are exceeded. For more information, you can consult the Belastingdienst website.
- Trusted Flaggers who, in good faith, believe that an AskTippi entry infringes their copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights. This happens under an agreement with the parties involved, which stipulates that the data provided may only be used for legal proceedings, legal advice, or to answer user questions.
- Persons who report infringing, illegal, or offensive content or possible fraud via the Community reporting & review system.
- Debt collection agencies or credit bureaus.
Use of AI functionalities
On our Platform we offer optional AI functionalities that help you draft a question. When you use these, we process the input you provide as follows:
- Text-to-text: The title and any keywords you enter are used to automatically generate a draft description and a suitable payout moment for your question.
- Speech-to-text: When you speak your question, the audio recording is converted to text (transcription), after which that text is used to generate a draft description and payout moment.
For these functionalities we engage external AI service providers who act as processors on our behalf, including Anthropic (for generating text) and OpenAI (for speech transcription). The text or audio you provide is sent to these service providers solely to perform the requested function. These parties may be located outside the European Economic Area; in that case, we ensure appropriate safeguards as described under “Transfers outside the EEA”.
The legal basis for this processing is the performance of the contract (delivering the requested functionality). Using the AI functionalities is voluntary: you can always fill in a description and payout moment manually yourself. The AI-generated text is a suggestion — you remain responsible for the final content of your question and must check it before publishing.
DAC7
If you use our Platform above certain thresholds, we may be required to report your activities to the Dutch Tax Authority, as described in the Dutch law implementing the EU directive on data exchange for the digital platform economy, also known as "DAC7". You are considered a “DAC7 user” if you carry out 30 or more transactions and/or have sales of more than EUR 2000 via our platform. Every calendar year, AskTippi, like other platform providers, is required to submit this DAC7 report to the Belastingdienst. For further information, you can consult the Belastingdienst website.
How we secure your data
We take extensive technical and organisational measures to protect your data against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access. This includes, among other things:
- Data encryption and secure storage.
- Access control and two-factor authentication for sensitive information.
- Regular security audits and updates.
If you think your account or your data is being misused, contact support@asktippi.com. If you suspect you have discovered a security vulnerability on our Platform, please report it via privacy@asktippi.com.

- Account data: Up to 90 days after deleting your account.
- Transaction data: 7 years (tax legislation).
- Verification data: 6 months after the last transaction.
- Marketing data: Until consent is withdrawn.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have rights such as access to, correction of, and deletion of your personal data. You can also object to processing or request that it be restricted. We respect these rights, but we cannot always fully comply with every request due to other interests or legal obligations.
You can exercise your rights as follows by contacting us via privacy@asktippi.com:

- Right to data portability: You can request your data in a portable format.
Retaining your data
We process your data for as long as necessary to provide our AskTippi service and to comply with legal obligations. Specific retention periods are set out in our retention policy and are determined based on criteria such as the necessity for the AskTippi service, the sensitivity of the data, your consent to longer retention periods, and legal obligations to retain data.
Children's privacy
Our website and app are designed for a general audience and are not intended for minors. Access to our website is only possible for minor users if they have permission from their legal representative, or if it is customary in society for a minor of that age to independently carry out the relevant action. Personal data of minors is only collected in those specific situations.
Transfers outside the EEA
When personal data is shared with or provided to entities outside the European Economic Area, we ensure that appropriate measures are taken to make this transfer compliant with the relevant legislation. Before sharing personal data with third parties, we first verify whether there is an adequacy decision from the European Commission confirming that a particular country, sector, or region offers an adequate level of protection. If this is not the case, we conclude the EU-approved Standard Contractual Clauses with the relevant party.
